Happy Holidays?

December 27, 2005

Hope everyone had or is currently having a nice holiday. I know I did. I made out like a bandit and I’m currently in the midst of a weeklong vacation. Hear that? REFRESHING!

DukesIn addition to the presents, I brought some more vinyl home. I remember why I quit listening to vinyl now. It sounds great and I love the large cover art, but getting up every 20-25 minutes to flip sides is the worst. Anyway, I’ve been listening to some Tom Waits, Bruce Springteen and Joan Jett (Got that one for Christmas back in ‘81. Sitting next to it was a copy of Chipmunk Punk, Urban Chipmunk and a Dukes of Hazzard playset complete with a white plastic Boss Hogg cowboy hat.) I even brought home some requested Kinky Friedman for Ben C.

Coop - RFTC3 more days until my 30th and 4 until the new year so here’s a little present from me via Coop.

Present 4

Each one is split into 2 stuffit files and are rather large so broadband is really the only way to fly with this one.

Make sure you check out his other posts. He’s got all sorts of crazy stuff to read about (Hot Rods, Model Cars, Garage Sales and step by step Paint Blogging)

Rock N Roll for your weary soul

December 23, 2005

Abra CadavraThe Hives have a new DVD out which happens to have two new videos on it… both shot right here in Memphis. I had heard they did some stuff, but until yesterday I didn’t realize anything came of it.

You can check out The Hives videos (not to mention a slew of others) here and go here to see some of the other things JMM and the Guerrilla Monster crew have been up to.
A Little More For Little You
Also head over to Spread The Good Word to hear Rev. Frost’s rendition of Oh Holy Night.

It’s been very bizarre around here lately, so who knows when the next post is… until then enjoy some good music.

Where in the hell did the time go? Oh, there it is.

December 21, 2005

The last few days have flown by… Movies, movies, movies and more movies and a show at Murphy’s. Then today happened. I swear, all of that dissappearing time has suddenly reappeared and it’s making up for it’s absence in a big way. The last 2.5 hours have felt like an entire 8 hour day at work. I haven’t been at the desk very much to do any doodles so I don’t have any to post so far this week.

Operation Drunk Post

December 16, 2005

Just got back from hanging out with friends and I’ve got to say, this is quite possibly the drunkest I’ve EVER been. It was good seeing my good friend Willy. He’s been in basic training and away for a while. Wine, man. Wine. I don’t know much about it, but I do know that I’m seriously jacked right now… the funny thing is I’ll probably have less misspellings in this post than ony of my sober posts. Grammar on the other hand, will suck just as bad.

I hope everyone has a great Friday night.

More good shows in the area…

December 16, 2005

So it looks like the Detroit Cobras are gonna be with The Reigning Sound when they come through town February 5th. In addition to that Th’ Legendary Shack Shakers are at the Young Avenue Deli on the 8th. Last but not least, Supergrass is gonna be in Nashville on the 15th at City Hall.

Maybe this new year will be a good year for shows in this area… then again, I could have just missed them all like the New Pornographers in Nashville back in October.

Doodle of the Day 5

December 16, 2005

FattyTwo in one day! Actually, I’m trying to make up for the day I missed. This was done a while back and I “found” it when I scanned in the Scribble Skull doodle this morning. This looks a little bit like me, but that wasn’t the intention. Like most of these doodles they just start with a quick line or scribble then they get made into something else.

Got a hankerin’ for a ballet!?

December 16, 2005

Today, while chowin’ down on some Pancho’s, I read a review of Jacob Marley’s Christmas Carol in the Flyer. The premise sounds like it could be fun, but the review makes it sound like it’s a rehash of the original. Anyway, I got to thinking about how long it has been since I saw a play and started thinking about the passed up opportunities. Now, I HATE musicals (Cartoons and Willy Wonka have a pass). All of the recent chances to go see plays were all musicals which is why I chose not to go. This also got me to thinking about going to see some ballets around Christmas when I was in elementary. I actually enjoyed them. I think I would still enjoy some of them today. I specifically remember watching The Nutcracker and being amazed at all of the stuff going on up on that stage and the music that filled the air. There were no words, just images and music notes.

Of course, I hop online to see if The Nutcracker is playing anywhere close… “I just might go see it”, I say to myself. Sure enough, there it is, but it’s only playing for 3 nights. Sadly, I don’t think I’ll be able to make it. I’m a little leary of going to see the “Modern” Ballets so it may be a little while before I actually check one out.

Doodle of the Day 4

December 16, 2005

Scribble SkullI don’t know what it is about this one, but I like it. I guess you could say this is a continuation of my “Scribble” period. The “stick” in the background is something I am working on for Arsonist Radio (Ben and Jason saw some rough sketches a year or so ago). Anyway, yeah, the stick… just happened to be there when I started up the scribbles.

Doodle of the Day 3

December 15, 2005

FrankI actually had this yesterday and forgot to post it. So, um, here it is. Looks a bit like Frankenstein’s monster to me, what do you think? It definitely looks like the way I feel today. I’m beat. No doodles today at all so this will have to do.

A Step Up?

December 14, 2005

I’m seriously thinking of setting up an installed version of WordPress so I can alter the look and layout. I thought I’d give this a try, but dammit, I want it to do the things I want it to and I want it to look the way I think it should.
